I’m sorry for disappearing for a month, but there were so many important things to do and projects. I will share them with you as soon as they will be realised.
Everyone who reads me for a long time knows that in the blog I publish not only Scandinavian houses, but often mid-century houses, eclectic interiors and various houses for vacation and relax.
Today I want to show you a house in Belgium.
This project of architect Arjaan De Feyter “Zoersel House” at first glance reminds “Villa Savoye” by Le Corbusier. This house, built in 1969 in accordance with the foundations of the Bauhaus, really has some details as on “Villa Savoye”, one of the most famous Bauhaus creations.
“Zoersel House” was to become a prototype that was meant to be replicated to create an entire residential area around it. But this never happened, and instead the house gradually came to desolation.
In 2005, the house was ready for demolition, but it was unexpectedly purchased by interior designer Arjaan De Feyter and his wife. There was a big reconstruction in the house. And when all the technical problems were solved, the designer focused on the interior.
Wide windows and white walls create a light-flooded space, and give a sense of freedom and breadth. The interior is decorated in a minimalist style, with several mid-century iconic elements such as Willy Guhl’s chairs on the ground floor, a table and chairs by Belgian designer Alfred Hendrickx, a coffee table by Poul Kjaerholm. Some spaces were left almost empty to stress the architectural rigour of the building. Now the villa combines all the necessary elements for a comfortable modern life and an original Bauhaus project.
